Waterford 0-08 Cork 0-07
Waterford caused a shock in the McGrath Cup semi-final, recording a 0-08 to 0-07 win over Cork at Clashmore.
The home side started strongly with two Shane Aherne frees but Cork had drawn level by the 26th minute. In horrible conditions, the Déise added two more points to lead by two at the break.
Michael O’Halloran’s score in the 58th minute gave the home side a three-point cushion but Colm O’Neill’s point, the Rebels’ only score from play, reduced the deficit to just one with five minutes to play.
Cork missed a late free that would have produced extra-time and Waterford held on for a famous victory, which means a final date with UCC next weekend.
