UCC eased into the McGrath Cup final with a 0-18 to 0-06 victory over IT Tralee in their semi-final clash in Tralee tonight.
The majority of the damage was done in the first half, UCC getting out of the blocks first with two quick-fire points from Conor Cox and Luke Connolly putting the Cork side two points in front by the third minute.
IT Tralee did rally briefly but were 0-06 to 0-02 down by the 24th minute courtesy of a point and a free from Tom Hickey, and a point each from Sean Kiely and Brian O’Driscoll.
The game was all but over in the driving wind and rain by half-time with UCC ahead 0-10 to 0-02 with further points being added by O’Driscoll, Hickey, Kiely and Kerry All-Ireland winner Paul Geaney.
The second half proved to be a no contest with UCC rattling over another eight points to Tralee’s two leaving Cork to meet the winner’s of Sunday’s Waterford v Clare clash in the next weekend’s final.
