Eoin Bradley insists combining his roles with Derry and Glenavon will prove relatively straightforward, as he returns to the Oak Leaf fold after a 12-month absence from the inter-county scene.

Bradley, who only seriously pursued a soccer career in recent seasons, made a major impact when he joined Danske Bank Premiership side Coleraine in 2013.

The Glenullin clubman scored on his debut for the club and went on to bag 10 league goals before signing a two-year deal with Glenavon last May.

The news that the 31-year-old would resume his inter-county career came as something of a surprise, as Bradley had told the Belfast Telegraph in October: "I won't be going back into the county set-up. I really don't see that happening."

The corner-forward's initial departure from the Derry scene was prompted by manager Brian McIver’s ultimatum to choose either Gaelic football or soccer.

However, a rapprochement was reached when McIver discovered that Bradley’s commitments with Glenavon would have a minimal impact on his duties with Derry.

Bradley trains just one night a week Gary Hamilton’s Glenavon side, and while Saturdays are the focus of the Mourneview men, most of Derry’s matches will take place on Sundays.

“I will be at every Derry session barring Thursday night, when I train with Glenavon,” Bradley told The Irish News.

“Whenever the Derry boys are training on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I will be there. Any night I am free, I will be there.

“The league is important but the main goal is the championship.

“My season with Glenavon will be finished long before the championship starts and it will give me four or five weeks to prepare.

“We will just manage it through the league. Whenever Brian needs me, I will be there, but I will be used sparingly.

“Gary is happy enough with that, and Brian is happy enough with that, so I am happy enough with that.”
