Dublin County Board chairman Andy Kettle has died at the age of 68.
Kettle was elected to the chair in 2010, succeeding Gerry Harrington, and was returned unopposed for a fifth term at the Metropolitans' county convention on Monday night.
The Fingal Ravens clubman was at the helm during a time of great success for Dublin GAA, in which the county’s hurlers had league and Leinster SHC success, and its footballers won two All-Ireland titles.
Kettle also made key contributions to the ambitious 'Unleashing the Blue Wave' strategic plan published in 2011, which had as its goal an infrastructure which would lead to an All-Ireland football title every three years for Dublin and a hurling crown every five.
Kettle is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Niamh, Orla and Ciara and sons Patrick, Peter and Eoin.
Funeral arrangements will be finalised on Wednesday.
