Rhode captain confident of Leinster glory

Flashback to the 2010 final between Rhode and St Vincent's
Flashback to the 2010 final between Rhode and St Vincent's

Rhode captain Padraic Sullivan believes the side have the wherewithal to beat the reigning provincial and All-Ireland champions, St Vincent's in Sunday's Leinster club final in Navan.

The Offaly side have tasted defeat in their three previous appearances in the decider, the most recent (2010) saw them lose out to their opponents this weekend.

For Sullivan, preparations have gone well in their pursuit of a first title.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he said: "We were beaten in last year's final domestically so our main focus was to come back and win the county championship this year.

"We've played some of our most colourful football in the Leinster campaign and at times had to raise our game when required."

Indeed, O'Sullivan is even more bullish when asked about how he thinks the final will pan out.

"We know the challenge we're up against and the task ahead of us. However, we have quality in every area and if we can click into top gear then we can beat anyone," he insisted.

"All of us are really looking forward to the challenge ahead."
