Monaghan have announced that Malachy O’ Rourke will remain on as manager of their senior football team for the coming season.

O'Rourke's backroom team of Leo McBride, Ryan Porter and Finbarr Fitzpatrick will also remain unchanged for 2015.

They were appointed in the 2013 season for a three-year term to be reviewed after two and the decision for them to stay on was announced at last night's county board meeting in Cloghan.

Over the past two seasons Monaghan have secured successive promotions in the Allianz League, captured the Anglo-Celt Cup in 2013 after a 25-year gap, and reached the All-Ireland quarter-finals in both seasons.

Following their review they will continue for a third year in 2015, and have also agreed to an extension of two years to 2017.

Also announced at Cloghan was that the Monaghan Under-21s will have joint managers for the 2015 season.

The outgoing manager Finbarr Fitzpatrick will be joined by Ciarán McBride from Tyrone.

Drumhowan’s Donal McAdam will remain as selector and the final member of the management team will be confirmed in the near future.

They have also agreed to a two-year extension to 2017.
