Dublin football star Jonny Cooper has been released from hospital after he was the victim of a knife attack in the capital in the early hours of this morning.
The Na Fianna defender is believed to have been assaulted on Dorset Street on the north side of the city at around 5am.
The 24-year-old was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment where his injuries were found not to be life-threatening.
Cooper tweeted at 1630 to thank the public for all their support since the incident.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
We can confirm that Johnny Cooper was injured in an incident that is under Garda investigation, we would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

Na Fianna were knocked out of the Dublin Senior Football Championship by Templeogue Synge Street on Friday night.
