Darren Clarke has announced that he will be standing down from the Louth senior football panel for this season.
Following a meeting with Louth manager Aidan O'Rourke, he decided to withdraw. Clarke has not ruled out the possibility of returning.
On Wednesday evening, Clarke tweeted that he had had to withdraw from the panel for the rest of “'this' year”.
He said he wish the team all the best for the year, without elaborating on the reasons for his withdrawal.
Clarke was a substitute in Louth’s loss to Meath earlier this month. Louth endured a difficult Allianz Football League campaign, and were relegated from Division Two.
