Glen Ryan has stepped down as manager of the Longford senior football squad after five years in charge.
The Kildare native masterminded successive promotions from Division 4 to Division 2 in the Allianz League and a famous All-Ireland Qualifier victory over Mayo in 2010.
However, 2013 was a disappointing year for the midland county as Ryan’s charges failed to win a match in the second tier of the league and were promptly relegated.
Their interest in the championship ended with a defeat after extra time to Wexford in Round 2 of the Qualifiers following on from their loss in the Leinster campaign to Wicklow.
