All-Ireland-winning Dublin footballer Jason Sherlock has announced his retirement from the game.

Sherlock played for Dublin for 15 years, and last lined out for the county in 2010.

In a statement this morning, the 1995 Sam Maguire winner said his decision to retire had not been an easy one but it was "time to move on".

The 37-year-old said his football career had provided him with some of his greatest memories and it had "been an honour to play with, and against, some wonderful footballers".

Sherlock has also retired from club football with St Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh.
