Tyrone retained the Power NI Dr McKenna Cup with a Stephen O'Neill-inspired 4-11 to 1-10 win over Monaghan in heavy conditions at the Athletic Grounds.

Mark Donnelly was also to the fore with goals in both halves to help the Red Hands to a 10-point win.

Monaghan had started brighter and Kieran Hughes' goal and a point from Paul Finlay had them ahead by three after 15 minutes.

But Mickey Harte's men hit back almost immediately with goals from Donnelly and O'Neill to give them a six-point lead at the break.

Monaghan's job wasn't made easier when Ronan McNally was red-carded just before the pause.

And it was all over by the time Peter Harte fired home a late penalty as Mickey Harte claimed his sixth McKenna Cup as Tyrone boss.
