Mick O'Dwyer has been ratified as Clare's new senior football manager this evening.
A county board meeting for Tuesday night was brought forward in order to ratify the Kerry legend into his new post.
The Waterville man's last job in management was with Wicklow from 2006-2011 and there he enjoyed some notable championship victories.
He guided his native Kerry to eight All-Ireland wins between 1975 and 1986, while his spells with Kildare and Laois saw overdue provincial success and an All-Ireland final appearance for the former.
Clare will begin 2013 in Division 4 of the Allianz League and will be expected to challenge for promotion.
In the summer they will face either Limerick or Cork in the Munster SFC semi-final, by which time O’Dwyer will be 77.
