Kevin Walsh is set for a fifth season in charge of the Sligo footballers

Kevin Walsh has been ratified as Sligo senior football manager for the 2013 season.

The county board on Tuesday night gave the green light for the Galway native to remain on for a fifth year in charge of the Yeats county.

Walsh steered Sligo to a Connacht final appearance last summer, where they lost to Mayo by two points. They subsequently went down heavily to Kildare in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

There was much criticism of the side after their insipid display against the Lilywhites - prompting speculation that the former All Star may move on.

However after meeting players and officials after the conclusion of the county championship, Walsh has opted for another year.

Next year's Connacht Championship will see Sligo travel to London in the preliminary round and if that hurdle is negotiated - Leitrim or New York await in the provincial semi-final.

Before that a competitive series of matches await in the third tier of the Allianz League.
