Louth have named Aidan O'Rourke as the new manager of the county's senior football side.

The former Armagh player succeeds Peter Fitzpatrick who stepped down after the All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Westmeath on 30 June.

O'Rourke, who won an All-Ireland medal with the Orchard county in 2002, has been appointed on two-year term with an option of a third year. He previously worked as a selector with Kildare and Down.

In other managerial news, Mick O'Dowd has been ratified as new Meath boss on a three-year term. He takes over from Seamus McEnaney.

Trevor Giles and Sean Kelly will part of the backroom team.
