Liam ‘Baker’ Bradley has stepped down as manager of Antrim’s senior football team.

A statement from the Antrim County Board said that Bradley had informed them of his decision to end his tenure with the Saffrons.

Antrim Chairman Jim Murray thanked the Co Derry native for his work over a four-year tenure.

“Antrim football now is in a much better place than it was in 2009 when Liam came on board,” Murray said.

“He gave the players belief and confidence and under his management great strides have been made.

“There have been a few highlights, including reaching the Ulster final, securing successive promotions and beating Galway this summer.

“Liam Bradley has been good for Antrim and we wish him every success in the future."

Murray concluded by saying: “Over the next few days the county board will put in place a process to seek nominations for a new manager.”

The Saffrons reached the 2009 Ulster final, but they fell to a six-point defeat to Tyrone in that game.

They exited the provincial Championship at the quarter-final stage this year at the hands of Monaghan. They did subsequently record qualifier wins over London and Galway, but came a-cropper in the third round against Tipperary.
