Emmet McDonnell has been appointed the new manager of the Offaly senior football team.
The Co Westmeath native is currently in charge of Meath intermediate side Ballinabrackey.
The announcement was made after a four-man special committee formed by recommended McDonnell for the post.
Tom Coffey, who led the Faithful in an interim capacity this summer, withdrew his candidacy last week.
McDonnell has enjoyed success at colleges’ level, and led St Mary’s of Edenderry to the prestigious Hogan Cup this year.
A statement released but the Offaly County Board tonight said full details of his backroom team will be released later.
The special committee comprised of Offaly Chairman Pat Teehan, Secretary Martin Boland, Fr Sean Heaney and former Kildare and Offaly footballer Dave Kavanagh.
