Cork midfielder Alan O'Connor does not believe that his side's extended break will harm their chances in Sunday's All-Ireland football quarter-final clash with Kildare.
Cork have not played a competitive game since they beat Clare to claim the Munster Championship at the start of last month.
However O'Connor is confident that the Rebels’ freshness will stand to them and that they will hit the ground running against the Lillywhites at Croke Park.
"There are pluses and minuses to it," O'Connor told the Irish Examiner. "It lowers the injuries that lads might get from the heat of battle.
"But every fella wants to be playing championship every weekend. We're preparing as best we can and driving each other on.
"There is no love lost out on the training field or in challenge matches amongst ourselves. You can shake a guy's hand coming off the field after some incident, but it's all about getting guys into the mind-frame of playing in the championship," he added.
Cork will be at full strength for the game with Kildare. Manager Con Counihan welcomes back Graham Canty, Pearse O’Neill and Patrick Kelly after all three were forced to miss the Munster final triumph.
