Seanie Johnston may miss Kildare’s meeting with his native Cavan next week after sustaining a shoulder injury whilst training with the Lilywhites.

The forward’s switch to Kildare has been the subject of much controversy, and the possibility of him featuring against his former side was expected to be one of the real talking points of the second round of the football qualifiers.

However, the knock he picked up on Tuesday may prevent him from making his Kildare debut.

“The shoulder injury needs to be assessed as to where he’s at and to see what way it reacts and if the pain goes out,” Kildare team spokesperson Morgan O’Callaghan told the Irish Daily Star.

“He picked up a bang and it’ll probably be early next week before we know. It’s a matter of waiting and seeing.”
