Wexford GAA county board has reacted strongly to an incident of racial abuse directed towards Lee Chin in a senior football game.
Two members of the Duffry Rovers team were each banned for two months following incidents in their defeat to Wexford town side Sarsfields. Referee Brendan Martin highlighted the racist comments in his match report, prompting a swift reaction by board disciplinary chiefs.
Chin, a wing back on the Wexford senior football side, is reported to be extremely upset and shocked by the incident.
Wexford chairman Diarmuid Devereux said: "Lee Chin is a Wexford man, born in Wexford, living in Wexford, educated in Wexford and working in Wexford.
"Racism is something that will not be tolerated within Wexford GAA."
Chin played on the Wexford side that recently defeated Longford in the Leinster SFC, and is also part of the U-21 hurling squad that will take on Kilkenny in the provincial semi-final.
