Kildare will take on DCU in the final of the O’Byrne Cup after the holders beat a weakened Dublin side 1-11 to 0-08 in Newbridge this afternoon.

Both sides finished with 14 men with Eoghan O’Flaherty dismissed for the Lilywhites and Paul Brogan receiving a red card for the away side late on.

Kildare, who were wasteful at times in front of the posts, led 0-05 to 0-04 at the break despite O’Flaherty’s 30th-minute red card.

A second-half penalty from Ronan Sweeney after Sean Murray’s foul on Tomas O’Connor provided the platform for Kieran McGeeney’s side.

They will face DCU in the decider, who beat Meath 2-08 to 0-06 on Saturday night.

Wexford advanced to the final of the O’Byrne Cup Shield after a thrilling extra-time win over Wicklow.

A late goal saw the Model County advance on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-17, but both sides had a man sent off in the extra periods.

They will meet Laois in the final after they saw off Dublin IT 0-15 to 0-07 in Portarlington.
