Pat Flanagan will continue as Westmeath manager for another year after being ratified at a county board meeting in Mullingar last night.

Flanagan was reappointed following a secret ballot, while the media was barred from the meeting.

Delegates failed to ratify the Clara man in early August following a poor season in which the Lake County lost to Wexford and the Antrim in the Championship, while he was also subjected to a vote of no-confidence, which was later withdrawn.

It was also heard at Wednesday night’s meeting that the board would be responding to criticisms aimed at them by team captain Denis Glennon, who also called for Flanagan’s reinstatement.
