Cork’s Daniel Goulding has been named All-Ireland ‘Man of the Match’ by the Sunday Game panel.
Cork beat Down by 0-16 to 0-15, ending a 20-year wait for All-Ireland football glory, and the 24-year-old was nominated alongside team-mates Donnacha O'Connor and Michael Shields.
He received the nod for scoring nine of Cork’s 0-16 total in Sunday's final, knocking over two points from play and seven from frees in a highly effective performance.
Speaking to Michael Lyster at last night’s post-match banquet, the Éire Óg man said: ‘For the 35 fellas and the management today was the perfect ending. We had a lot of knocks over the last couple of years and it is great to be at the top for once.
‘It is an absolutely great feeling to come out (on top) with your good friends and fellas that you have battled with for so long.’
The team is due to leave Dublin at around 4pm today, after a visit to Crumlin Children's Hospital, and is expected to arrive in the city at around 7.30pm.
