The Armagh County Board are investigating an incident which saw Kevin Nugent hospitalised with severe facial injuries following an attack during a club game last Sunday.

The 19-year-old All-Ireland minor winner has undergone extensive surgery following an assault during the match between Maghery and Cullaville.

It has been reported that Nugent was knocked unconscious nearing the end of the game and suffered breaks to his chin and jaw, while all his lower teeth were displaced and lower jaw dislodged.

Nugent was part of the Armagh minor team that won the 2009 All-Ireland title against Mayo in Croke Park last September.
