In a boost for Carlow football, manager Luke Dempsey has persuaded Thomas Walsh to resume playing with his native county.
Walsh attended his first training session on Tuesday after a vote among the players last week cleared the way for his return.
Walsh has spent the last three years playing with Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow after a controversial inter-county transfer in 2007.
Carlow narrowly failed to persuade Walsh back early in 2009, but late last year he transferred back to Fenagh, his home club in Carlow from Bray Emmetts and that dictated that he could no longer play with Wicklow.
Walsh didn't accept an initial offer rom Carlow to return, preferring instead to play rugby with Tullow over the winter months, but Dempsey stepped up his efforts to coax him back in recent weeks.
Carlow will open their Leinster championship campaign against Wicklow on 16 May
