5.10pm That's it from us, folks. Hope you enjoyed our text updates on both finals, wherever you are in the world. Many thanks to all those who emailed us; sorry we didn't get to add all of the comments to this live text commentary. Congratulations to Ballyhale Shamrocks and St Galls.
ST GALLS WIN ALL-IRELAND SENIOR FOOTBALL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 0-13 TO 1-05 WIN OVER KILMURRY-IBRICKANE
FULL-TIME: St Galls 0-13 Kilmurry-Ibrickane 1-05
60 min + 1 Kevin Niblock with a point for St Galls. He's had a fine game, Niblock.
60 min Another point for KI - Michael O'Dwyer the scorer. Too little too late though. Into added time.
56 min Point for KI by Stephen Moloney. 1-02 for the day for him.
55 min Nine wides for Kilmurry, and just four scores all day. Those stats say it all for the Clare side, unfortunately for them.
51 min Pointed free for Kilmurry-Ibrickane. They need a goal, and quickly, to have any chance though.
50 min Just ten minutes to go. Hard to see anything but a St Galls victory...
45 min Doubt it. Rory Gallagher fists a point over for St Galls which restores the Ulster side's seven-point advantage.
44 min Finally a score for Kilmurry-Ibrickane. Point for Stephen Moloney. Only KI's third score in almost 44 minutes of football. Any chance a storming KI comeback?
39 min Another point for St Galls. Missed the scorer. Sorry.
36 min Niblock offloads to Conor McGourty who extends St Galls' lead to six points. A long way to go but it's hard to see KI clawing this back, the way they're playing.
32 min Kevin Niblock points for St Galls. Too easy; very poor marking by Kilmurry-Ibrickane.
31 min Back underway at Croke Park.
4.34pm 'Fair play to the updates very helpful on st paddys day. In Santa Marta in Colombia on a scorching morning.' - Gary Collins from Clondalkin. Thank you, Gary. Much appreciated.
There's only four points in it at half-time, but St Galls were dominant in that half. Kilmurry-Ibrickane looked very nervous, and have been completely outplayed in the middle. But SG should be further ahead, and KI will know that a four-point gap - from a first half in which they simply never got going - is far from insurmountable.
30 min Kevin Niblock's effort is well blocked down but the ball eventually comes to Kevin McGourty who pops it over the bar for St Galls.
28 min Terry O'Neill with a well-worked point for St Galls.
26 min Respite for Kilmurry-Ibrickane. And a score to boot too - free well pointed by Johnny Daley. Only KI's second score after 26 minutes.
24 min Kevin McGourty extends SG's lead. It's full-time pressure on the KI defence now by the Antrim side.
22 min The much-vaunted KI defence is up against it now. The Belfast side are getting well on top, Anthony Healy with a point. Still just two points in it though.
19 min Fine point from a 45 by Conor McGourty. Galls lead.
17 min The sides are level. Point from Aodhán Gallagher for Galls.
15 min You might think I'm sleeping at the desk but I'm not, honest. There's simply nothing to update you on. Scrappy, scrappy stuff so far.
11 min Flat enough so far. St Galls probably the more dominant in possession terms.
6 min McGourty scores from the resulting 45.
5 min Great save by KI's Dermot O'Brien after scorching effort from SG's Conor McGourty.
2 min Great response from KI. Stephen Moloney goal after great run and off-load by Declan Callinan. Bear with me on the spelling of names.
1 min SG off the mark. Scorer to follow
3.45pm Amhrán na BhFiann time at Croke Park.
3.40pm To minimise the risk of repetitive-strain injury - and believe me, when you're trying to offer text updates on a game involving Joe Canning and Henry Shefflin, the risk of RSI jumps dramatically - I'm going to be using abbrevations during the football final. SG for St Galls; KI for, well, you can guess...
3.35pm Right, one down, one to go. St Galls and Kilmurry-Ibrickane are warming up at Croker. A big day for both sides. Good luck to both.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FULL-TIME: Portumna 0-17 Ballyhale Shamrocks 1-19
BALLYHALE SHAMROCKS CROWNED ALL-IRELAND SENIOR HURLING CLUB CHAMPIONS WITH 1-19 TO 0-17 WIN OVER PORTUMNA
60 min Shefflin misses from a 65 but it doesn't matter as the whistle sounds and Ballyhale Shamrocks end Portumna's quest for three in a row. Kilkenny's day. Again. Congratulations to Ballyhale Shamrocks; commiserations to Portumna.
59 min There's five points in it and time is running out for Portumna...
57 min Point number 12 for Canning.
56 min Canning blasts it low from a good distance out. Ballyhale keeper James Connolly stopped it, but not comfortably...
55 min A point for Ballyhale's Mark Aylward. It's getting a bit frantic out there now.
53 min If Portumna don't win, it won't be Joe Canning's fault. An 11th point for the Galway side's talisman.
53 min Andy Smith point for Portumna narrows the gap to six points. Not an unassailable lead but this game is still Ballyhale's to lose.
52 min Canning makes it 0-10 for himself today. Keeping the Galway side and defending champions in touch. They'll probably need a goal though.
51 min Shefflin with a free for Ballyhale. Eight for Shefflin now.
49 min Peter Smith with a point for Portumna.
49 min Shefflin point from a free. Eight in it now.
46 min Goal for Ballyhale! Bad mistake by Portumna keeper Ivan Canning; David Hoyne pounces to score the game's only goal so far. Nightmare for Ivan Canning as he completely miscued his clearance.
46 min Martin Dolphin point for Portumna.
45 min Canning bring his personal tally to 0-09. Another free.
45 min Ballyhale put six between them again. TJ Reid point.
43 min Point by David Hoyne for Ballyhale.
42 min It's hard to keep up with these two. Monster point from Canning.
41 min Shefflin points for Ballyhale. As expected, it's becoming Joe Canning v Henry Shefflin. I wouldn't like to call it...
37 min Canning is on fire now. Another free.
36 min Canning again (free). Gap is down to five.
35 min Canning with a free for Portumna.
33 min Cha Fitzpatrick extends Ballyhale's lead.
32 min Point for Portumna. Canning with an easy free.
31 min Third point for TJ Reid.
Back underway at Croke Park. Ballyhale Shamrocks lead by six. By the way, if you're seeing this text commentary on the RTÉ News Now iphone app, you'll have noticed by now that it hasn't updated in some time. We're aware of it and trying to fix. This text commentary is working fine on the RTÉ Sport website and on mobile (m.rte.ie/sport) so I hope you're following us on either of those.
30 + 1: The referee sounds the half-time whistle. A better half for the Kilkenny men but those last two scores for Portumna makes it a very managable gap for the defending champions.
30 min: Two in a row for Portumna. Two in a row for Hayes (Damien).
30 min Badly needed: point for Portumna. First from Damien Hayes.
29 min Nicely done - good point by Eoin Reid. Eight in it now.
28 min Another point for Ballyhale. Another point for Shefflin. Another free.
26 min Lucky escape for Portumna. Goalkeeper Ivan Canning spilled a ball as he came out to clear. David Hoyne swung at the sliotar but, with the goal gaping, he fluffed his shot.
23 min Good response from Portumna. Or rather Canning. Great catch and score.
22 min Shefflin with a pointed free.
19 min Point for Eoin Reid for Ballyhale.
19 min If I say Shefflin, take it that I'll mean Henry. If I say Canning, take it that I'll mean Joe. Deal? I'll specify if I mean any other Shefflin or Canning.
17 min First point from play for Portumna. Joe Canning with the honours.
16 min A six-point lead now for Ballyhale. Paddy Reid this time.
15 min Another point from TJ Reid. Sweetly struck, again from the left. Portumna need a score.
12 min Another free in for Ballyhale. Henry Shefflin doesn't miss those.
11 min TJ Reid extends the Shamrocks' lead. Nice point from the left-hand side.
10 min Foul on TJ Reid. Henry Shefflin scores.
9 min Free in for Portumna. Surely their opening score now. And it is. Joe Canning gets them off the mark.
7 min Joe Canning close to goaling again. Brilliant from the Galway man to first of all take the high ball in, but he's crowded out by the Ballyhale backs as he lines up a shot at goal.
5 min Henry Shefflin is off the mark. Line ball from TJ Reid short to Shefflin who popped it over with ease. Poor marking.
5 min - Tentative start from both teams. Little bit of nervousness out there.
3 min Joe Canning announces himself on the final with a strong run and shot which is well blocked by the Ballyhale keeper. Might have taken his point.
1 min Point by Cha Fitzpatrick. First blood to the Kilkenny men.
1.59pm Ok, definitely the last few comments. My hands are nearly falling off from typing and the match hasn't even started yet.
'Well lads, Working away in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, will be keeping an eye on the text alerts during the game sick patients or no sick patients! - Conor Moran
'Cheering on Portumna from Guildford in the UK. After last weekend’s truly awful performances by Galway sides, hopefully Portumna can remind everyone what a great sporting county we still have. To even win today by one point this year will be just as memorable as the thrashings dispensed in the Semi and Final last year. Ballyhale will be coming all guns blazing to rectify the horror-show in Thurles, but Portumna are no slouches and will push the favourites (because let’s face it Kilkenny sides always are in Hurling) all the way…' - Ronan Byrne
1.53pm Team Line-Ups:
Ballyhale Shamrocks
J Connolly; A Cuddihy, A Cummins, P Holden; P Shefflin, E Walsh, B Aylward; J Fitzpatrick, M Fennelly; C Fennelly, H Shefflin, TJ Reid; E Reid, P Reid, D Hoyne
Portumna
I Canning; A O’Donnell, E McEntee, O Canning; G Heagney, M Ryan, P Smith; L Smith, E Lynch; N Hayes, K Hayes, A Smith; D Hayes, J Canning, M Dolphin
1.50pm Ok, last few comments before the action starts.
'Hi All. Listening in Amsterdam before going to work later to serve pints in Mulligans ...... Came on Ballyhale !!!' - Barry
'hi, donal here in Barcelona. Will listen to the hurling and try to get to a pub to catch the football. As an athenry man it'll be hard to see Portumna get the three-in-a-row that eluded us but I reckon they'll do it and fair play to them - some achievement.' - Donal
1.39pm 'Doing a computer course in Genoa, only the live text to keep me company, hoping for Portumna after a tight game.' - Philip, Italy. Good for some, Philip, off gallivanting in Genoa. Enjoy the game and thanks for emailing us.
1.36pm 'Good luck to Portumna from Danny Fitzpatrick in Munich.' Short and sweet. Thanks Danny.
1.33pm From David Hosford in Toronto: 'Stuck in work out here in Toronto, all I have is yourself and Radio 1 to keep me company. Fancy Portumna by about 6 and Kilmurry to win it all in the football!' Thanks David. You're in good company, even if I do say so myself.
1.21pm Declan (see entry at 12.58) is back on to say: 'Not the only worker bee - but a wonkey gnasher and a dodgy dongle don't help. It's yourself and an illegible stout stained excited predictive text from the ma in the terraces keeping me in the know.'
Sorry to hear about the gnasher, Declan. But I know for a fact that it can't be that bad. Why? Bear with me on this. A few weeks ago I had to have root canal too. In the days leading up to it I had been told to expect pain beyond the realms of hell. Worse than childbirth, I was told. I'll never know what childbirth pain is like but after my root canal I have to say, what's all the fuss about? It's not that bad. And you, presumably being of hardy stock from the Banner, you should stand up to it better.
As for work, they say we should be thankful to have a job at all...
1.15pm 'Stuck in Work in Eoin Reid’s office, someone has to do his work…. Hoping Ballyhale can do it' - The lads from SSB. Cheers lads. Enjoy the game.
1.10pm See entry at 12.42pm. Jason Nolan has finally got back to my question to confirm 'Of course it will be RTE Radio, it's the only one!' Good man, Jason. That's what we like to hear.
1pm Just one hour to go. See entry at 12.40pm.
12.58pm 'Gut wrenched I'm missing out on Killmurry's Champions League Final - Whole family's drinkin Dub dry and I'm stuck with a root canal in a North London office. Ye better beat their [insert expletive here] ladz!' - Declan Edward Wilkes, Kings X and in pain. You're not the only one working, Declan. Anyway, enjoy the game.
12.42pm 'Best of look to Ballyhale Shamrocks from all the Southern Irish contingent in Edinburgh. Will be listening closely to the game through the radio at work!' - Jason Nolan. Obviously that's RTÉ Radio you mean, Jason. It is, isn't it?
12.40pm Get your emails into us early, folks, because once the action starts I won't be able to add your comments here. It's hard enough to type text updates on hurling at the best of times, but when Joe Canning and Henry Shefflin are involved...
12.40pm 'Cheering on Portumna from the office in Luxembourg.' - Fiona Byrne. Thanks for the email, Fiona. Enjoy.
12.35pm And now for an email from further afield: 'I'm in the Irish Village in Dubai waiting on the football final. I'm from West Belfast but have lived in Dubai for 3 years now, theres a massive support here for st.Galls, hope Colin and the boys can do it today.' Claire-Louise O'Neill, Dubai. Greetings to all, Claire-Louise. Enjoy the day.
12.30pm 'Here in London all us Clare Supporters are going out to cheer on the boys hope it’s a great St Patrick’s Day for Killmurry Ibrickane.' Thanks to Bernadette Egan for that. Not, as far as I can tell, sent from her iphone.
12.10pm Tommy Moroney, also on his iphone, has emailed us saying: 'Looking forward to watching kilmurry in NYC later today. Great to see a Clare team doing so well in the football.' Thanks Tommy. Those iphones sure are popular.
Noon Just two hours to go until throw-in for the hurling final. Predictions please (sportonline@rte.ie)
11.55am 'I'm here in Woodlawn in the Bronx hoping Portumna can do it again!!!' - Patrick M Walsh, sent from his iphone don't you know. Thanks Patrick. Enjoy the game.
11.45am If you're a horseracing fan, don't forget that you can keep updated on all the action at the second day of Cheltenham with our live text commentary - for more click here
11.25am Stephen Doyle has emailed us asking us if the ticket offices around Croke Park are open today. We've made some enquiries, Stephen, and to the best of our knowledge all tickets offices at Croker are open.
11.15am: 'Martin Carty, former chairman of Portumna Club, who is watching the match in Spain with his wife Pauline, wish the Portumna team every success in the game today and hope the Cup is returning to Co Galway for the three in a row.' Thanks to Nathalie Carty for that email.
11am: Are you going to the game? Are you from any of the parishes involved? How do you think the games will go? Whether you're a diehard Ballyhale/Portumna/St Galls/Kilmurry-Ibrickane fan or just interested for the love of the game, email us your thoughts at sportonline@rte.ie.
