Roscommon footballers have been dealt a blow with the news that Gary Cox has been forced to retire due to a persistent ankle problem.
The 30-year-old been hindered by injury in recent years and his loss is another setback for the Rossies, who have not enjoyed a good start to their Division Three campaign in the NFL after losing the opening two games to Cavan and Fermanagh, respectively.
I am disappointed. I had full intended on going back for another year at least. We had a good year last year and we have some lovely young footballers coming through, so it's a shame,' revealed Cox.
