Tyrone's Joe McMahon is excited ahead of the new season thanks to the new faces that have come into the Red Hand's squad.

McMahon, who plays as either full-back or full-forward for Tyrone, claims the influx of new players have revitalised the squad and is glad to see the younger players get their chance.

'The time always has to come for a bit of change,' he told the Independent.

‘There have been a few retirements. Lads have been impressing in club games and for the minors and U-21s so it's good for them boys to get a chance.'

McMahon also admitted that Tyrone had gone stale least year, culminating in their disappointing All-Ireland exit at the hands of Cork.

'Cork were the better team that day. Looking back, we were maybe a wee bit stale on the day and we didn't show up ourselves. We can learn from that because you can learn from losing as well as winning, as Mickey (Harte) always says.'
