After holding interviews with Joe Kernan and Tomás Ó Flatharta, the Galway County Board hope to name their new football manager on Wednesday night.

Kernan is the favourite to succeed Liam Sammon, but former Westmeath supremo Ó Flatharta is also keenly interested in the job.

The two candidates were interviewed by the sub-committee set up to carry out the selection process on Monday, and they will make their recommendation to the football board.

Sligo manager Kevin Walsh, former Clare boss Frank Doherty and ex-selector Pete Warren were also nominated for the position, but withdrew their names on Friday.
