Down Under-21 star Jamie O’Reilly has been offered a contract by AFL side Richmond Tigers.

The Loughlinisland clubman recently had a three-week trial in Australia and is mulling over an offer from the Melbourne club.

O’Reilly told the Irish News: ‘I've signed a document that says if I'm going to play AFL for anybody, it will be for Richmond. I haven't signed a contract with them yet, but there is one on the table.

‘Ricky Nixon and a couple of recruitment managers watched the Ulster under 21 final. I wasn't on the player list that was invited to Ricky Nixon's camp in Mayo, but they just happened to be at the Ulster under 21 final and I played reasonably well that night and things took off from there.’

‘The AFL's pre-season starts in the last week of October, so I've basically 10 weeks to sort things out. If I haven't made my mind up in that time, they will know that I have no intention of going over.’
