Down secretary Sean Og McAteer has revealed that the county will take their time over appointing a new manager.

Ross Carr was sacked by the county board at the end of a disappointing All-Ireland campaign and clubs have until Friday to nominate his potential replacement.

'There has been no developments yet. We are still very much at the exploratory stage,' McAteer.

'Clubs haven asked to put forward their suggestions and ideas. It will then be up to a five-man sub-committee to consider the suggestions and bring forward proposals to the county management committee,' he added in an interview with the Irish News.
