Cavan football manager Tommy Carr survived a vote of no confidence at a county board meeting last night.

Following a secret ballot from clubs and board committees Carr survived by 30 votes to 23.

It was widely expected that Carr and his back room team would be forced out, however after last night’s vote it now up to Carr to decide.

Last week the former Dublin boss said: ‘The secretary (Liam McCabe) explained to me that I should step down, that it would be better for all, such was the negativity towards me and the management team in the county.

‘The only reason I didn't, I suppose, is pure stubbornness, number one, but also because I had the support of the players, who asked me not to resign, and the backing of the chairman. So I just don't know where it stands at the moment.’
