Ronan McGarrity has recovered sufficiently from his broken jaw to line out at midfield for Mayo in Sunday’s Connacht SFC final against Galway.
Despite suffering multiple hairline fractures to his cheekbone following an off-the-ball incident in a club match last Sunday week, McGarrity has proved his fitness to manager John O'Mahony and starts the Pearse Stadium clash.
In the only change from the team that defeated Roscommon, Liam O’Malley replaces David Vaughan at right corner back.
Former All Star Conor Mortimer, recently returned to fitness, has to be content with a place on the bench.
Mayo XV v Galway in the Connacht SFC final at Pearse Stadium on Sunday, 4.00pm:
K O’Malley, L O’Malley, G Cafferkey, K Higgins ; P Gardiner, T Howley, A Moran; D Heaney, R McGarrity; P Harte, T Mortimer (capt), A Dillon; A Kilcoyne, B Moran, A O’Shea.
