Ahead of the Connacht SFC final on 19 July, Mayo will be sweating over the fitness of Barry Moran who went off injured in a club game on Sunday.

The 6ft 5’ full-forward picked up a leg injury while playing for Castlebar Mitchells in a senior league match against Tourmakeady.

The player immediately applied an ice pack to the injured area and the extent of the damage is not yet known.

Even though Moran did not score in Mayo's landslide victory over Roscommon in the provincial semi-final last weekend, his height and physical presence caused the Rossies defence no end of trouble.

With Galway looking somewhat vulnerable defensively in their victory over Sligo, John O'Mahony will be hoping that Moran will be available to partner Aidan O'Shea in the full-forward line as Mayo seek their first Connacht title in three years'.
