Mike Frank Russell has opted out of the Kerry panel for the remainder of the Championship, at least.

The five-time All-Ireland winner wants to concentrate on his club commitments with Laune Rangers, leading many to believe he won’t be seen in Kerry colours again.

The 31-year-old however has refused to rule out a return to the kingdom squad in 2010.

Russell has played for Kerry for the last 12 years, and was involved as Kerry ended 11 years without the Sam Maguire in his debut season in 1997.

The 2000 All Star also won two Under-21 All Irelands as well as being a minor winner, club winner, All-Ireland schools and Intermediate Schools winner.
