It has been confirmed that Monaghan will be seeking a hearing on both proposed penalties, the monetary fine and the proposed suspension of Tomás Freeman.

The punishments were handed down by the CCCC as a result of incidents in their Ulster Championship game against Derry on 24 May.

Monaghan chairman John Connolly was incensed at the magnitude of the fine.

It is the second time in three years that Monaghan have been hit in such fashion and Connolly expressed the opinion that county committees should just refuse to pay.

Farney manager Seamus McEnaney was equally outspoken regarding the proposed eight-week ban on Freeman, saying that he was a player who over the years was more sinned against than a sinner.

The appeal notices have been lodged in Croke Park.
