Cork IT and DIT reach Sigerson final

Cork IT will meet DIT in the Sigerson final after both colleges came through threir respective semi-finals at Cork IT today.

Cork led NUI Galway by six points with 13 minutes remaining but despite a strong Galway comeback, which included scores from former Roscommon minors Cathal Kenny and David O'Gara along with Galway's Sean Armstrong, they fell just short of advancing to the decider.

A magnificent haul of 0-05 from Cork inter-county star Daniel Goulding saw the hosts to a final scoreline of 0-14 to 0-13.

DIT booked their place in tomorrow's decider with a 3-08 to 1-04 win over Dublin rivals UCD. However, the Dublin side will be sweating on the fitness of Paul Brogan, a scorer of one of their goals, after he picked up an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, St Patrick's, Drumcondra earned a place in the Trench Cup final with a 0-14 to 0-10 extra-time win over Trinity College, Dublin.
