Controversial AFL agent Ricky Nixon is set to return to Ireland in January, with a view to recruiting more promising young GAA players for Australian Football clubs.

Nixon has previously attracted the ire of many within GAA circles, with Tyrone manager Mickey Harte recently criticising the GAA’s co-operation with the AFL in light of the loss of many top young players to the professional game.

Last August, Nixon held a recruitment camp in Castlebar, and after its success, he is keen to increase the number of Irish players plying their trade down under.

It is believed that representatives from at least five top AFL clubs will be in attendance, and that they may also attend Sigerson Cup matches in order to see the best of young GAA talent when they represent their universities and colleges.
