The Disputes Resolution Authority has confirmed they have yet to reach a decision in regards the case brought forward by Declan Bonner and Charlie Mulgrew against the Donegal county board.

Both men made the complaint after claiming the process that saw John Joe Doherty ratified as the new Donegal manager was flawed.

The DRA reviewed the cases of Bonner and Mulgrew as well that of county board chairman Sean Kelly and secretary Seamus O'Donnell at Wednesday night's meeting that took place in Monaghan town and lasted over four hours.

Their decision is expected in the coming days.

A brief statement from the DRA read: ‘Charlie Mulgrew and Declan Bonner challenged the process of appointing the Donegal senior football team manager and sought to have the process recommenced. The Tribunal has reserved its decision.’

Doherty was offered the position of Donegal manager by Kelly in mid-October, and requested a meeting to discuss the finer aspects of the post before learning 15 minutes later from the chairman the offer was reneged.

That same night, Bonner and Mulgrew were then informed it would be their joint-ticket that would be put forward for ratification at the county committee meeting the following week.

However, when Doherty spoke at that meeting to clear his name, the clubs of the county voted in favour of a motion that would give the 1992 All-Ireland winning defender the meeting he had originally requested, which he in turn got before being voted in as Donegal manager earlier this month.

‘We are not doing this to become the new Donegal team management,’ Bonner said some weeks ago.

‘We will not even apply for the position. This will go down the route of the DRA to get this process set aside. Those main officers have made so many mistakes over the last two years. Someone has to be held accountable for that.’

On Saturday in Letterkenny, Doherty met with 22 of last year's Donegal panel and discussed how he plans to approach the job.

He also introduced plans to implement training programmes for the players with the assistance of his trainer Michael McGeehin before Donegal get back to training in the new year ahead of their Dr McKenna Cup campaign.
