Tommy Carr has been officially announced as the new Cavan senior football manager, having been presented to County Board delegates at a meeting in the Hotel Kilmore on Monday night.
The Tipperary native succeeds Donal Keogan in the position. He has been handed a three-year term to try and revive the fortunes of the Breffni men.
Also linked last week to the Meath job, this will be Carr's first senior inter-county role since he resigned as Roscommon manager in March 2005 after two full seasons at the helm.
He managed Dublin between 1999 and 2001, winning a single O'Byrne Cup title during that spell.
He beat off competition for the Cavan job from ex-Fermanagh manager Dominic Corrigan and former Armagh player Justin McNulty.
Carr impressed during the interview process and gained unanimous backing when his name was put forward at a specially arranged meeting last Friday.
