Sean Dempsey has been ratified as the new Laois senior football manager at a meeting of the county board.
Dempsey, who managed the county minor team to All Ireland glory in 2003 and to an All Ireland under-21 final in 2007, was unanimously approved by club delegates.
He was also a member of Liam Kearns management team in 2007 but stepped aside at the end of that season but continued his involvement with the county under-21 side.
His selectors will be Dermot Murphy, who served with Kearns this season, and former county defender Eamon Delaney.
Meanwhile, caretaker hurling manager Niall Rigney was appointed boss of the county senior hurling team.
Rigney took over from Damien Fox after he resigned following the teams defeat to Offaly and he succeeded in keeping Laois in next years Leinster championship.
He will be joined by former county team mates Joe Dollard and PJ Peacock on his management team.
