Down's Rodgers has spleen removed

It has emerged that Down midfielder Ambrose Rodgers had an operation to have his spleen removed following yesterday's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Wexford.

Rodgers underwent surgery at Dublin's Mater Hospital after picking up an abdominal injury in the latter stages of the game at Croke Park.

The Longstone clubman is recovering from the operation and he is said to be in a 'stable' condition.
