Gary Hurney and Liam Lawlor, two players who were recently called up to Justin McCarthy's injury-hit hurling panel, have been named in the Waterford side for Sunday's Munster SFC quarter-final meeting with Clare (Cusack Park, throw-in 3.30pm).
Deise football boss John Kiely has included the pair in his starting line-up for the game with team captain Hurney, who scored a goal in the hurlers' challenge match win over Kilkenny last weekend, set to start at midfield.
Lawlor will lead the Waterford attack on the forty, while Liam O Lionain is expected to start at full-forward having recovered from a recent injury.
Nire clubman Brian Wall is also back from travelling and joins O Lionain and Connie Power, who scored 1-9 in Waterford's recent league win over Clare, in a strong-looking full-forward line.
But the Deise are without the injured Ger Power, Wayne Hennessy and Stephen Cunningham for the trip to Ennis. Power ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments earlier in the year.
Kiely's men will be hoping to repeat last summer's historic championship win over Clare, which was achieved on a 1-6 to 0-7 score-line in Dungarvan.
That was the county's first SFC win in 19 years and a similar result on Sunday would see them through to play All-Ireland champions Kerry in the semi-final on June 15.
