Down withstood a second half revival from Longford to win this entertaining NFL Division 3 encounter at Pairc Esler.
With 63 minutes gone, Brian Kavanagh levelled for Longford at 0-15 apiece, but Down came back with Paul McComiskey, John Clarke and Benny Coulter (0-02) kicking the decisive points.
Some terrific scores from Daniel Hughes and Ronan Murtagh had Down leading by 0-10 to 0-06 at half-time.
In front of a 4,500-strong crowd, Longford's fortunes improved in the second period but Down had the better finish.
