Roscommon and Meath settled for a point apiece when the sides played out an entertaining draw at Kiltoom.
A fourth-minute Jonathan Dunning goal and points from Ger Heneghan and Senan Kilbride helped Roscommon race into an early five-point lead but Meath recovered thereafter and were ahead by a point at half-time.
Colm Coyle's men chipped away at the home side’s lead as two points from Cian Ward and a point apiece from Peadar Byrne, Graham Reilly and Stephen Bray levelled the scores midway through the opening half.
Heneghan and Dunning put Roscommon back in front but Meath again levelled through Reilly and Ward as half-time approached.
Dunning and Bray then exchanged points but a Ward free-kick on the stroke of half time had the Royal County just ahead for the second half.
Roscommon had the home crowd cheering on the resumption of play as four unanswered points then had John Maughan's men a goal ahead.
Frankie Dolan celebrated his return to inter-county action with the first score of the half and further points from Karol Mannion, Mark O'Carroll and Heneghan stretched Roscommon's lead.
Meath rallied though and were back on level terms by the midway stage.
The home side had a great chance to claim victory late on but Karol Mannion sent a penalty-kick wide after Kilbride was fouled.
Substitute Alan Nestor looked to have broken Roscommon's resistance when he sent a close in free-kick over the bar on the stroke of full-time, but Mannion made amends somewhat for his earlier miss when he equalised with a fine score.
Maughan's men might even have snatched a narrow victory in stoppage-time but Heneghan sent a long-range free-kick wide of the target.
