Former Dublin player Paul Bealin can look forward to an O'Byrne Cup semi-final tie against his native county after Bealin's adopted Carlow beat Wexford by 1-13 to 0-11.
Under the floodlights at Horeswood, a magnificent second half display by Carlow saw them book a place in the penultimate round.
Wexford could only manage a single point in the second half through Mattie Forde.
The visitors certainly made the better of the opening stages and opened their account after just three minutes as a right-footed effort from Simon Rea sliced between the posts.
Mark Carpenter added a further point for Carlow, seven minutes later, during a spell where the visitors' defence was also on top.
Colin Byrne eventually opened Wexford's account in the 13th-minute but had his effort quickly cancelled out by a second Rea point a minute later.
Carlow continued their dominance midway through the half with the only goal of the period. It came in the 17th minute after a quick line ball was played into Eric McCormack who rounded two defenders and cheekily chipped the ball over the head of the advancing Wexford goalkeeper.
Wexford failed to wilt and bounced back well, despite trailing by 1-03 to 0-01 at this stage.
Points from Ben Brosnan and Forde helped the Model men cut the gap to two points by the 22nd minute.
Ray Walker did ensure a goal lead for Carlow a minute later, however, Wexford went on to dominate in the remaining 13 minutes before half-time.
With Brosnan and Forde now in control in the scoring stakes, their side reduced the gap to the minimum margin eight minutes before the interval.
Wexford led 0-10 to 1-04 at half-time as the home side turned a five-point deficit into a three-point lead.
John Brennan was a solid presence for Carlow between the posts saving two goal shots from Forde in the opening half.
However, Wexford were to take a firm back seat in the second period with Carlow scoring nine points without reply.
Carlow could have had a second goal on the restart but a Davy Byrne shot just skimmed wide of the target.
The introduction of Carlow substitutes Evan Doyle and Patrick Walsh made a major difference in the second half as Bealin's charges advance to the county's first O'Byrne Cup semi-final since 2004.
