Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has called up nine newcomers but omitted Ger Cavlan, who was implicated in a dog fighting scandal earlier this year, in a 37-man Dr McKenna Cup squad.

Cavlan, who was embroiled in controversy in August after a BBC Spotlight programme linked him to the world of illegal dog fighting, is a notable omission. He is not named as being among those not considered due to injury.

Brian McGuigan is included even though he still has some way to go in his recovery from a serious eye injury.

Dromore, who won the county's Club Senior Championship for the first time this year, have five players in the panel, including three newcomers, Cathal McCarron, Shaun O'Neill and Fabian O'Neill. They join club colleagues Ryan McMenamin and Colm McCullagh.

Carrickmore attacker Kevin McNally, and defenders Martin Swift of Killyclogher, Dungannon's Dominic Hands, Cookstown's John Gilmore have all been called up, along with Killeeshil forward Gary Reilly and Eglish midfielder Conall Martin.

The squad includes 28 players who were involved with the Red Hands during the 2007 campaign. Four players - Brian Dooher, Stephen O'Neill, Joe McMahon and Paul Quinn - are named as having not been considered due to injury.

Eight others have been registered with their colleges and will therefore not feature for their county in the McKenna Cup. They will be in contention for inclusion in the National League squad to be named at the end of January.
