The Ulster Council is to reconsider plans to run off three rounds of Dr McKenna Cup games in the space of a week.

The rethink follows opposition to the proposed schedule from the colleges involved, principally Queen’s and University of Ulster Jordanstown.

Pressure on dates has resulted from a Croke Park directive requiring all subsidiary competitions to be completes before the end of January. The northern provincial council had already stated that many of the Dr McKenna Cup games will be played under floodlights.
