Billy Morgan has stepped down as Cork football manager in protest at the county board's decision not to allow him choose his own selectors.
Morgan described the change in policy as a backward step.
He feels this present Cork team has the potential to claim a first All-Ireland title since 1990.
He led Cork to this year's All-Ireland final where they were soundly beaten by Munster rivals Kerry.
Meanwhile, the Gaelic Players Association have called a press conference for lunchtime today where they are expected to announce the result of a ballot for strike amongst their members, its widely anticipated a majority will have voted for strike action.
