Bernard Brogan celebrates his goal that helped Dublin to the Leinster title

Dublin are Leinster Champions for the third year running after a deserved win over Laois at Croke Park this afternoon, writes RTÉ's Darragh Maloney.

The Dubs were comfortable winners but could have won by far more such was their hold on the match from the early stages of the second half.

This final was over as a contest in the 12th minute of the second half when Dublin were eight points in front but they dozed off from there and another team may have caused them more problems.

Laois went for goals too early in the second half and had they taken their points, they could have put more pressure on their opponents.

The first half was really intense stuff and it was two points apiece after only six minutes.

Ross Munnelly popped up to score a goal in the eighth minute and Laois had a four-point cushion after only 12 minutes.

The goal did rattle Dublin but several Mark Vaughan frees kept Dublin close before the match turned decisively in their favour close to half-time.

The champions scored two goals in the space of a minute from Vaughan and Bernard Brogan and they had a three-point lead at the break, 2-07 to 1-07.

Dublin took a huge step towards a 47th Leinster crown with Alan Brogan scoring a goal just five minutes into the second half.

That goal gave Dublin a five-point advantage, which had swelled to eight points in the 47th minute.

Laois were in real trouble but Dublin fell asleep for the next quarter of an hour and gave Laois many chances to get close to them.

Laois hit the crossbar with a great shot from Pauric McMahon and Stephen Cluxton saved well from Colm Parkinson before Dublin settled into their stride again.

It is true that you are not going to dominate a team in a provincial final for 70 minutes but that spell will concern Paul Caffrey with tougher challenges ahead.

Laois battled away with Michael Tierney excellent from frees but they simply had no answer to the greater power and drive of their opponents.
