Galway have been handed an injury setback ahead of Sunday's Connacht semi-final against Mayo with the news that Diarmuid Blake is unfit to start.

Blake, a centre-back or midfielder, will be included among the substitutes but Peter Ford and his selectors believe that he is not fit enough to last the full 70 minutes.

Niall Coleman and Joe Bergin will form the midfield partnership with Niall Coyne manning the centre-back spot.

Goalkeeper Paul Doherty will make his championship debut in a side which has six survivors from the Galway team which won the 2001 All-Ireland.

The Mayo team has also been announced, with Billy Joe Padden a surprise selection at full-back.

Trevor Mortimer returns to the Mayo team and is named at centre half-forward.
